The easiest way to start the process of healing with food is to think food and color with all your healthy food recipes. Each color group actually helps your body in a unique and different way. Colorful foods contain needed elements for our bodies and each food color offers different properties. (Of course I mean natural not the artificial kind.)
If you regularly choose one food color over another your body will attempt to restore balance. For instance, eating salty foods will cause you to crave sweet foods. Balance is the key here, all groups work together, so do not leave out any color group in your daily routine. Or you will miss out on important needed nutrients.
Here are some examples of food and color for your
Red foods offer energy and affect our immune system in particular. Too much red food, such as red meat for example would likely cause one to become over stimulated, on the negative side angry or impatient. On a more positive side, this color food allows someone to work tirelessly.
TIP: Red meats should always be from reputable organic sources. Commercial grade meat of any kind includes additives and factory processes that are known to cause many health issues.
Orange influences our digestive system. Brightly colored fruits or vegetables contain powerful antioxidants like beta-carotene. A good example of orange foods would be peaches or carrots. This color group also promotes a healthy appetite, sex drive and supports the immune system.
Green foods offer a source of natural fibre and aide
in detoxifying the body. Typical
examples are kiwi and peas.
They also have a natural calming effect. Natural green foods promote calmness,
love, and offer an alkalizing effect on the body. Green is in the middle of the color spectrum,
therefore allows increased resistance to illness and aging.
Purple or violet foods such as grapes and eggplant contain both blue and red, creating a great balance. Too much of it can cause extreme emotions in people. These natural purples promote energy, expression, intuition, and balance for the body and soul. Drugs and sugar fall into a category of ultraviolet color causing some to feel extreme negative emotions of fear or jealousy.
Blue and indigo promote a good night’s sleep. This is a soothing, calming color that helps you to relax and unwind after a stressful, long or physical day. Examples of these blue foods are black plums, blackberries, black cherries, olives, raisins and prunes.
Unhealthy food choices not
only contain huge amounts of salt, fat and sugar but also ‘artificial food
coloring’. These are not from real sources but manufactured. They lack in any nutritional value or substance
and cause known health problems today. Artificial food coloring can be
carcinogenic or cancer causing, even destroy the nutrients in our food because
of their chemical nature.
